Following an invitation by FNF a high-ranking delegation of the Serbian Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) visited the German capital and took part at the Congress of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party (ELDR) in October. Members of the delegation, led by Cedomir Jovanovic, Chairman of LDP and former vice premier, were Nenad Prokic and Ivan Andric, MPs, Zoran Ostojic, member of the LDP Executive Committee, and Vukosava Crnjanski-Sabovic, LDP secretary in foreign affairs.

The members of the delegation had the opportunity to discuss with prominent liberal politicians the political situation in Serbia. In a meeting with Oli Rehn, EU Commissioner on Enlargement, Cedomir Jovanovic pointed out the constructive position of LDP on the process of Serbia’s way into the EU. Mr. Jovanovic also met Guido Westerwelle MP, Chairman of the German liberal Party FDP. Dr. Westerwelle emphasized the role of the world wide liberal family and the FDP in supporting the efforts of LDP to support the further democratization in Serbia. The invitation of the LDP-delegation to a working dinner with Dr. Wolfgang Gerhardt MP, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty, gave the opportunity to discuss with Serbian liberal friends and leading liberal politicians from Georgia and Azerbaijan challenges and obstacles to the political and social transformation in South Caucasus and in the Balkans.
